Alabama football: 4-star Michigan commit Emil Ekiyor flips to Crimson Tide
Alabama football drives the conversation here at the Rammer Jammer, SEC Country’s daily Alabama athletics recap, but we’ll cover news for every facet of the Crimson Tide. Every morning, we’ll be here for the latest on Alabama football, basketball and every sport on campus.
Changing his mind
Alabama made an elite recruit flip his commitment on Sunday. Four-star offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor switched his pledge from Michigan to Alabama. He originally committed to the Wolverines on Oct. 2, 2016. His decision came just two days after Alabama missed out on 4-star defensive tackle Bobby Brown. Ekiyor is the No. 2 player at the center position and the No. 105 player overall, according to the 247Sports composite. Ekiyor’s commitment gives Alabama its 12th player of the 2018 class. Alabama currently rates No. 16 in the team recruiting rankings. Ekiyor is an Army All-American. Our own Chris Kirschner weighed in on what the news means for Alabama.

Heating up
It’s officially LSU week. Alabama will go to work preparing for one of its toughest matchups this season. It’s been awhile since the Crimson Tide were tested. Because of this, LSU is being seen as a challenge for Alabama. The Tigers started out slowly but have won three straight games. Two of those wins came against teams that were ranked at the time. Alabama should face as good of a test this weekend as it has all season. Luckily for Alabama, the Crimson Tide have fared well coming out of a bye week since Saban became coach.
