Report: Timing of Jim McElwain announcement has become ‘PR issue’ because of Saturday tweet from Florida

Many eyes remain on Florida to see what will become of coach Jim McElwain after Saturday’s rumors regarding his future with the program.

On Sunday, sports agent Darren Heitner used Twitter to say that the timing of any announcement about McElwain has become a “PR issue” because of Florida’s tweet Saturday that released athletic director Scott Stricklin’s statement that denied conversations between the coach or his representatives and anyone connected with Florida’s athletic department had taken place about a buyout of McElwain’s contract.

It’s unclear why that tweet would create a public-relations issue, and Heitner didn’t expand in his message. But on Sunday, FootballScoop reported that McElwain was meeting with Florida officials in the morning.
