Paul Finebaum comments on Ed Orgeron’s job security

As a first year head coach sitting at 3-2 after week 5, some LSU fans have to be wondering if Athletic Director Joe Alleva made the right decision.

A loss against Florida on Saturday would really begin to put the pressure on him. SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum gave his take on Orgeron’s future at LSU Saturday.

“I don’t think it’s going to end Coach O’s run,” Finebaum said. “He still has support and he also has a massive buyout that’s hanging over everything. I don’t think he goes unless this falls program just falls apart and can’t win a game, which I don’t think will happen.”

Part of what’s standing in LSU’s way is the massive buyout it would take to get rid of the Louisiana native at this point. It’s likely the Tigers don’t want to spend that kind of money, and our experts don’t think they should either. A win Saturday in the game given to Gainesville after the Gators came to Baton Rouge due to Hurricane Matthew would help Orgeron’s standing and perhaps put the breaks on the downward slide of his perception after the loss to Troy.
