LSU football podcast: Matt Canada gives Tigers hope against Alabama
LSU football is the No. 1 topic of discussion every day on SEC Country’s One Team, One Podcast. Host Carter ‘The Power” Bryant chats why offensive coordinator Matt Canada gives the Tigers a chance against Alabama. Also, SEC Country beat writer Alex Hickey joins the show to share his biggest storylines heading into this week, if their will be trash talk and why Georgia should be ranked ahead of Alabama.
Matt Canada versus Alabama
LSU paid Canada over $1 million per year for big games like Alabama. He was the only offensive finalist for the Broyles Award, given to the nation’s best assistant coach, in large part for his Pittsburgh Panthers offense upsetting Clemson and Penn State last season.
Bryant says Canada is one of the most unpredictable playcallers in college football. This should give Alabama head coach Nick Saban and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt some fits on Saturday.
Georgia ranked ahead of Alabama?
Hickey shared the biggest storylines of the week heading into the Alabama game. He also possesses a strong belief that the Bulldogs should be ranked ahead of the Crimson Tide in every poll, including the first College Football Playoff Rankings released on Tuesday.
Mississippi State ahead of LSU?
Bryant says the Tigers, ranked No. 19 in the latest AP Poll, should be behind No. 21 Mississippi State. The overall Resume and head-to-head matchup heavily favors the Bulldogs.
LSU impact of Florida firing Jim McElwain
The Gators did the right move by parting ways with McElwain according to Bryant. He explains why this departure could affect two teams the Tigers play annually.
