Brendon Harris, former 4-star Tennessee commit, commits to Vanderbilt

One-time Tennessee commit Brendon Harris quietly announced on Twitter Tuesday that he has committed to Vanderbilt.

The safety tweaked his bio to read “Vanderbilt University commit” and added in an anchor and downward arrow emoji.

Harris rates as a 4-star prospect and ranks as the No. 17 best safety in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Harris committed to Tennessee on May 19. He opened his recruitment on Oct. 4, shortly after the 41-0 loss to Georgia. He told SEC Country in September he was excited to focus on his senior season and not worry about the recruiting process.

Harris plays safety and running back for Baylor (Chattanooga) High School.

The Vols still hold four secondary commitments from Trey Dean, Jaycee Horn, Tanner Ingle and Brandon Cross. Dean is the only safety.

Tennessee lost a commitment from running back Lyn-J Dixon after the 15-9 loss to South Carolina. Wide receiver Jatavious Harris opened his commitment to “all schools,” but claims to still be committed. The Vols have pulled back their communication from Harris, though and he will likely commit elsewhere.

Tennessee has 21 commits in the Class of 2018 if Jatavious Harris is included.

Vanderbilt holds commitments from 15 prospects this cycle.
