Arkansas commit Bumper Pool to play in All-America game
Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks recruiting notebook. In this edition, we discuss an honor for a 2018 commit, stats for a 2018 target and a planned official visit.
Arkansas LB commit Bumper Pool to play in O-D All-American Bowl
Arkansas linebacker commit Bumper Pool has accepted an invitation to participate in The 88 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. The game, which features 88 of the top high school recruits in the 2018 class, is scheduled for Dec. 30 in New Orleans.
Pool is a 4-star recruit according to the 247Sports composite. He is one of three 4-star prospects pledged to the Hogs’ 2018 class. He has 92 tackles through seven games this season, an average of 13.1 per game, for Lovejoy (Lucas, Texas) this season.
One of Arkansas’ firmest commitments, Pool plans to sign in December and enroll for the 2018 spring semester. He is projected to play inside linebacker for the Razorbacks.

QB target Gerry Bohanon Jr. up to 32 total touchdowns
Arkansas quarterback target Gerry Bohanon Jr. is lighting up scoreboards this season for Earle (Ark.).
Bohanon has accounted for 32 total touchdowns (19 passing, 13 rushing) through eight games this season for 7-1 Earle. He’s completed 69 of his 106 pass attempts for 1,745 yards. On the ground, he has 835 yards on 45 carries. He’s done that despite missing some game time earlier this season with an injury.
The 4-star prospect plans to officially visit Arkansas the weekend of Nov. 3-5. The Hogs play host to Coastal Carolina on Nov. 4. He is the No. 1 recruit in the Natural State’s 2018 class. Arkansas commit Connor Noland, also a 4-star quarterback, is No. 2 in the state.
Bohanon had announced Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State and Ole Miss as his final choices last May. He recently decided to reopen his recruitment to all schools, though those six remain near the top of his list. LSU has also emerged as a legitimate possibility after Bohanon’s surprise unofficial visit to the school earlier this month.
OL target Jahmir Johnson official visit planned for late November
The Razorbacks are in desperate need of finding junior college recruits to help fill holes on their offensive front. At the top of their wish list is Arizona Western’s Jahmir Johnson. He’s become a popular prospect in recent weeks, picking up 11 offers since Oct. 2.
Arkansas joined that mix on Oct. 3, doing so early enough to gain some valuable mutual interest. Johnson now has plans to use one of his five official visits on Arkansas with an expected visit date of Nov. 24. The Razorbacks host Missouri that afternoon, the day after Thanksgiving.
Johnson has some ties to the Razorbacks’ program. He attended Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia, the same school as Arkansas senior running back David Williams.
Additionally, Arkansas has had previous success recruiting from coach Tom Minnick’s program at Arizona Western. Junior tight end Jeremy Patton played for the Matadors the previous two seasons. As did former Arkansas wide receiver Cody Hollister before he signed with the Hogs.
Johnson spent last season at Rhode Island, redshirting at the FCS school. He could sign with one of the interested programs in December and have three years to play his three remaining seasons of eligibility.
