Arkansas basketball caps solid class with Reggie Chaney commitment, big football visit on deck
Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks recruiting notebook. In this edition, we discuss the 2018 basketball class, an official visitor and a possible new offer.
Reggie Chaney’s commitment finishes off stout Arkansas class
Arkansas basketball landed the commitment of 2018 forward Reggie Chaney on Saturday. He’s the sixth pledge in the class, filling the final available spot in the group and seemingly completing an exceptional 2018 class for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas’ 2018 group now ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC according to Rivals.com. That ranking will almost certainly drop as top recruits commit elsewhere, but it should be solidified as a top-20 class in the Scout rankings. That standing would give the Hogs have their most impressive haul since 2013 — a group which included future All-SEC players Bobby Portis and Moses Kingsley.
Here’s the full 2018 commitment list:
- Reggie Chaney, 4-star F, Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.)
- Keyshawn Embery, 4-star G, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
- Ethan Henderson, 3-star F, Parkview (Little Rock, Ark.)
- Isaiah Joe, 3-star G, Northside (Fort Smith, Ark.)
- Jordan Phillips, 3-star F, Cedar Hill (Texas)
- Desi Sills, 3-star G, Jonesboro (Ark.)
If all of those recruits are signed, this is what the Hogs’ roster projects to look like for the 2018-19 season:
- Adrio Bailey, F, Jr.
- C.J. Jones, G, Jr.
- Jalen Harris, G, So.
- Daniel Gafford, F, So./R-Fr.
- Darius Hall, F, So./R-Fr.
- Gabe Osabuohien, F, So./R-Fr.
- Khalil Garland, G, So./R-Fr.*
- Reggie Chaney, F, Fr.
- Keyshawn Embery, G, Fr.
- Ethan Henderson, F, Fr.
- Isaiah Joe, G, Fr.
- Jordan Phillips, F, Fr.
- Desi Sills, G, Fr.
*Garland has not yet been cleared to play this season due to a medical condition. It is not known when or if he’ll be able to play at Arkansas.

Reminder: Gerry Bohanon Jr. set to officially visit this weekend
As reported last month by SEC Country, 4-star quarterback prospect Gerry Bohanon Jr. plans to officially visit Arkansas this weekend. The Razorbacks play host to Coastal Carolina on Nov. 4.
From Earle, Ark., Bohanon is the No. 1 recruit in Arkansas for the 2018 class according to the 247Sports composite. Complicating his relationship with the Hogs is the fact Arkansas has had Connor Noland, another in-state 4-star quarterback, committed since July 2016.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Bohanon announced Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State and Ole Miss as his final choices in May. He recently decided to reopen his recruitment to all schools, though those six remain near the top of his list. LSU has also emerged as an option following his recent visit to the school.
Report: Arkansas hasn’t ruled out offering in-state OL Jake Hardage
Arkansas is keeping a close eye on Pocahontas (Ark.) 2018 offensive lineman Jake Hardage and may still extend an offer to him, according to a report late last week from HawgSports.
Hardage is a 3-star guard and the No. 12 overall recruit from the Natural State in the class by the 247Sports composite. He holds an offers from Mississippi State and Southeast Missouri State
“[Arkansas] told me to keep having a good season, keep having good film and keep my highlights up to date,” Hardage told HawgSports. “If I do that, I have a chance at an offer. I’ve just got to keep up my game.”
Arkansas has two offensive linemen currently committed in the class — Luke Jones and Noah Gatlin. Both are 3-star tackles from within the state.
