LSU football podcast: Tigers will likely not have top 5 2018 recruiting class

LSU football is the No. 1 topic of discussion every day on SEC Country’s One Team, One Podcast. Host Carter ‘The Power” Bryant is joined in this episode by SEC Country’s Sam Spiegelman to chat the latest in Tigers recruiting, including the pursuit of Pooka Williams, the development of future offensive linemen and if the Tigers will finish with a Top 5 2018 recruiting class. 

LSU 2018 recruiting class will not finish in top 5

Spiegelman believes the Tigers recruiting class is shaping up nicely and will finish in the top 10. The Tigers are currently No. 13 overall, which is good for fourth in the SEC.

However, Spiegelman sees a top 5 finish as a tough task. He says landing 5-star receiver Terrace Marshall and flipping 4-star quarterback Justin Rogers could quickly shift that narrative.

Replenishing depth

LSU’s offensive line has taken some major hits in transfers and departures. The group needs more talent. Spiegelman believes this class, which already has three commits, will address a major need.

Pooka Williams

The buzz surrounding 3-star Kansas commit Pooka Williams continues to grow. Williams is an electric playmaker who can take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

Spiegelman’s stock on Williams has skyrocketed. He gives the latest updates on the Tigers pursuit of adding Pooka to the LSU 2018 recruiting class.

LSU’s offensive line

Bryant discusses the struggles surrounding the big uglies up front for the Tigers. LSU has been whipped in the trenches, which is forcing  Orgeron and offensive coordinator Matt Canada to simplify the playbook.

If things don’t change quickly, LSU will be in big trouble in SEC play. Bryant breaks down what is next for the group that needs to play better.
